The Ford Mustang’s 50th anniversary is just months away and new details are starting to emerge about the inevitable anniversary edition.
According to Mustangs Daily, the first 1,000 models of the next-generation Mustang will be released for the 2014 ½ model year. Each one will reportedly feature a special VIN and build number as well as a rumored 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces approximately 450 bhp (335 kW). There’s no word on any other changes, at this point, but the model will likely feature special badging at the very least.
When the 2015 Mustang is launched a few months after the special edition we can expect it to be offered with a variety of engines including a 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost with 350 bhp (261 kW) and the aforementioned V8.
There could also be an entry-level V6 as well as a range-topping Shelby GT350 which could have “substantially more” than 450 bhp (335 kW).
