The Donto P1 has finally been revealed in production form at this year’s Buenos Aires Motor Show, following a 2010 preview.
Envisioned as a competitor for the KTM X-Bow and Ariel Atom, the Donto P1 has been designed by Lucas Lopez who must have a soft spot for the Audi R8 judging by the front fascia. It weighs just 630 kg (1,389 lbs) and is powered by an Audi 2.0-liter FSI engine with 300 bhp (223 kW), unlike the 2010 prototype which had a 1.8T Volkswagen mill delivering 180 bhp (134 kW).
It’s made from a combination of carbon fiber, Kevlar and fiber reinforced polymer, while the stainless steel chassis has been homologated by FIA. The Donto P1 is 3850mm long, 1050mm tall and 1920mm wide, with a 2500mm wheelbase. It rides on 18-inch alloys shod in Pirelli tires and features a removable steering wheel and a small Plexiglas windscreen.
If there will be enough demand, the Donto P1 will enter a limited production run for Europe and other international markets and is expected to cost between 55,000 and 75,000 USD.
