Apple has confirmed that they are working along with auto majors to offer the iOS system in cars. Called “iOS in The Car”, Apple has confirmed that Honda, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Ferrari, Cheverolet, Infiniti, Kia, Hyundai, Volvo, Jaguar, Opel and Acura are the first one’s who have signed-up, while they are in talks with others, including BMW.

The emphasis on BMW here, is because it was revealed earlier, that the German luxury car maker had said, no thank you, to iOS in the Car. But that is not the case, as BMW has confirmed to AutoBlog that they are in talks with Apple currently, and installing iOS in their future cars is a possibility.

iOS in the Car will mark the way for a sea change where in car infotainment system is concerned. Built into Apple’s iOS 7 operating system, iOS in the Car will be integrated with your car’s infotainment system with the car’s display interfaced with the iPhone screen while voice commands can be activated via the car’s sound system.

Starting from 2014, a number of automakers will be offering this new in car device that will allow drivers to make phone calls, play music, display Apple Maps and receive iMessages via two options of using car controls or through voice activated commands to Siri with the aid of the vehicle’s sound system. This voice activated recognition facility works in the same way as a personal assistant, reading iMessages aloud and transcribing dictated responses while at the same time displaying traffic conditions and estimated time of arrival through the iPhone’s GPS system. This new iOS 7 operating system will be offered in certain iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches this fall.
