Maserati will allegedly implement a new styling direction with the 2015 GranTurismo/GranCabrio.

A company insider has told Edmunds the next-gen GranTurismo and GranCabrio will be the first Maserati models to adopt the firm’s new styling language. It is believed both of them will be more like a 2+2 rather than the four-seater versions of today.

The reason why rear-seat room will be reduced is because the recently launched Ghibli is the solution for those wanting a capable four-seater sports car that has roughly the same size as the GranTurismo. As a consequence, next-gen GranTurismo/GranCabrio will be more compact than today’s versions and promise to be more dynamic as well.

The same source indicates Maserati could be plotting an all-new two-seater sports car. The Italian marque hopes all these changes will boost sales from less than 7,000 cars to 50,000 units in 2015.
