Ford has officially announced 0-96.5 kph time for the 2020 Shelby GT500, giving us a glimpse of its brute force. While we didn’t find a chance at Motoraty to drive this new muscle machine yet, we can safely bet on the capabilities of its 760-horsepower engine. The 3.3 seconds to reach 96.5 kph is just a start to show off its true abilities; the pony car packs goodies beyond your imagination.

If we compare the new GT500 with its five years old predecessor, we do not see much difference in zero to 96.5 kph acceleration time. With around 100 hp more power, this Mustang gets better by just 0.2 seconds. Another surprising fact is that the 2020 Shelby GT500 has a lower top speed compared to the 2014 model. However, things start to make sense when we see the new Shelby completing the quarter-mile run in one second lesser time compared to the old Shelby.

While it seems Ford couldn’t come to people’s expectations with the new Shelby GT500, we must keep in mind the mechanics. For a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive car, the biggest obstacle to achieving greater acceleration is the ‘Traction’. Ford could either move the engine backward or make the suspension softer to get better gains, however, that would have compromised the handling and everyday usability.

All in all, the new Mustang Shelby GT50

0 is an excellent all-rounder. It is not only quick but is also more practical for everyday use.
