After revealing a video teaser a few days back, the Japanese automaker officially unveiled their first electric crossover SUV, Mazda MX-30 – their first electric crossover SUV at the Tokyo Motor Show. Based on CX-30 Crossover, the electric vehicle will hit the roads sometime next year.
The rumors about the battery and power figures were correct. It will boast a 35.5-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery to deliver 209 km. The battery will send power to the electric motor installed at the front axle. Do not expect it to be dominant with this small battery. The maximum output stands at 141 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.
Mazda has deliberately introduced this battery to make their production environment-friendly.
Those looking for a better drive range, the Japanese automaker will introduce an extended-range version next month featuring a small rotary engine.
The Mazda MX-30 will give a feel of a conventional vehicle, as the torque gradually builds up with acceleration. Moreover, it will sound like a typical car, which emits louder noise as you push the medal harder. However, buyers will be able to disable this feature if they want.
Talking about the exterior design, it has a single door handle on each side, and two-door handles inside for the rear seats, which open rearward.
Inside, it boasts a digital instrument cluster, an infotainment screen, and a display located at the bottom of the center stack. The front passengers will be able to use this screen to manage different aspects of the vehicle.
We are not sure when the new Mazda MX-30 will reach the UAE shores, nor we know about its pricing. Stay tuned for updates!
