The current generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee is taking its last breaths, as the automaker is planning to introduce the fifth-generation next year as a 2021 model year. Fans have been waiting for the updates for a long time, and finally, they will see what they were hoping for. Till the next-generation comes featuring seven seats, we have to make do with the 5-seater 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Having said that, the new Grand Cherokee isn’t a bad deal.
The 2020 Grand Cherokee gives buyers a lot of choice in the variants. These include the Laredo, the Limited, the Trailhawk, the Overland, the Summit, the SRT, and the Trackhawk. Jeep has given buyers more freedom with the new models. For instance, buyers can opt for the new Premium Lighting Group in the Laredo, Limited, and Trailhawk. This package includes bi-xenon headlights with auto high beams, distinctive daytime running lights, and LED fog lights. Moreover, they can also add the optional electric driver assist package on the standard Laredo, giving them the added safety through forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and brake assist.
Talking about the powertrains, the standard Laredo comes with a 3.6L V6 engine generating 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The power goes to the rear wheels. Those interested in four-wheel drive can simply buy the Trailhawk, SRT or Trackhawk or add it by paying extra for it.
Those looking to squeeze in extra juice can select the models featuring the 5.7L Hemi V8 engine, good for 360 hp and 390 lb-ft. Similarly, those who love to push the pedals and get quicker sprints have a choice to buy the Grand Cherokee SRT, which carries a 6.4L V8 pumping out 475 hp and 470 lb-ft.
Jeep doesn’t stop here and gives us its most powerful creation, the 2020 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Thanks to the 707 horsepower supercharged 6.2L V8 mated to an all-wheel-drive, it can sprint to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds.
The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee is well-known for its luxurious interior, and the new model does not disappoint. Quilted Leather seats, door panels, a panoramic sunroof, wooden dashboard and personalized entertainment screens on the back of the front headrests are some of its likable features. Though it does not include the third row, the new model is extended and has grown in size. It will give passengers more space and legroom in both rows promising a higher standard of comfort.
In the U.S., the new Grand Cherokee will start at $33,540 (including destination). Those who want the entry-level trim with an all-wheel-drive have to spend an extra $2,300. The Limited variant would cost $39,855 while the Limited X will start at over $45,000. Those looking to venture into the off-road territory with the Trailhawk have to dish out $44,955. On the other hand, the buyers who prefer luxury with all the bells and whistles of other variants can go either for the Overland costing $46,295 or the Summit starting at $51,995.
The performance enthusiasts need deeper pockets for the SRT and Trackhawk, which start from $68,395 and $86,900, respectively. We know that’s not cheap, but it is economical than the BMW X5M and Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
We are not sure when the new 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee will hit the roads of the UAE. However, for reference, we do want to tell you that the 2019 Grand Cherokee starts at AED 188,000 and goes to AED 500,000 for Trackhawk.
