Introduced in 2017 at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Toyota TJ Cruiser concept has got the green light for production with a debut in October and deliveries starting in the start of next year, reported Best Car from Japan.

As we can see in the pictures, the vehicle features a boxy, van-like design with sliding doors. It is much of a family van with a focus on carrying a lot of stuff for recreational activities or commercial purposes. It is evident from the foldable seats, which can be folded flat up to the dashboard.

Best Car also reported that the Toyota TJ Cruiser will be a little smaller than the Toyota C-HR and might come with typical doors instead of the sliding ones seen in the picture. Moreover, to meet the needs of varied customers, Toyota will offer two- and three-row versions.

It is highly likely for the TJ Cruiser to borrow the 1.8L engine with a hybrid setup from the Prius and Corolla Hybrid. The hybrid version will come with an all-wheel drive. Reportedly, it might also be offered with a 2.0L four-cylinder mated to either front-wheel or all-wheel-drive.

The Toyota TJ Cruiser will initially be available in Japan. Although the automaker did not reveal plans to introduce it for other markets, we feel it would because this small van is based on the TGNA platform and powertrain already available in the vehicles here.
