The demand for Hennessey-tuned cars is increasing day by day. To cater to the rising number of customers, Hennessey Performance Engineering has bought 15,000 square feet land next to its plant in Sealy, Texas.
The automaker carried out the groundbreaking ceremony last month and started the development work. The new facility will be operational in the first quarter of next year. It will feature a second dyno, a place to keep parts, and a fully dedicated area to create the upcoming Venom F5. The automaker is creating only 24 units of the hypercar, 12 for the U.S. market and the rest of them for the worldwide markets. Hennessey says the U.S. units have already been accounted for, and deliveries will start sometime at the start of next year.
Once on the road, the Venom F5 will go head to head with the SSC Tuatara, which also claims to cross 300 mph speed barrier.
With the new space operational, Hennessey looks to double its production capacity to 20 cars every week. With the production capped at 500 vehicles per annum in 2018, the new space will jack up the capacity to 1,000 vehicles.
Hennessey also has plans to use the Lonestar Motorsports Park dragstrip to test its vehicles and even build a space where they can start a tuner school for the students interested in learning vehicle tuning techniques.
