Mazda has refreshed its supermini Mazda2 today in its home market, Japan. With this unveiling, Mazda has ditched its real name ‘Demio’ and replaced it with the global name Mazda2. In North America, you will get 2020 Mazda2 in shape of 2020 Toyota Yaris hatchback.

A refresh was long due for the fourth-generation Mazda2, and ultimately we got it with more tech and subtle design changes. The new 2020 Mazda2 gets some of its design cues from the stunning Mazda3. The interior is as classy as ever with the more sophisticated interior for added comfort.

In the tech department, it got better with the new adaptive LED headlights, a 360-degree monitor system, traffic sign recognition, and a lane-keeping assist system. Mazda has also improved the suspension for a snugger ride. Other salient features include an optional heated steering wheel, six-way adjustable driver’s seat, radar cruise control, in addition to an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The car also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

For the European markets, the 2020 Mazda2 will carry a 1.5L petrol engine good for 75 or 90 horsepower, mated to a six-speed manual or six-speed auto. In Japan, it would be available with a 1.8L diesel and all-wheel-drive as well.

The new Mazda2 will hit the roads in Japan in September. However, European customers have to wait a little more to get their hands on it.
