The Italian design house and coachbuilder Pininfarina’s first offering, the Battista burst on the scene in March. A lot has been changed since then as the company is advancing to bring the production version for display. Currently, the automaker is analyzing its wind tunnel in the simulator at Pininfarina’s headquarters in Cambiano, Italy.

Pininfarina has hired Nick Heidfeld, a former Formula One driver and present Formula E driver to lead this project. Although Heidfeld is mum about Battista’s potential, he did say, “The acceleration of Battista is totally mind-blowing.” The automaker says, the Battista can hit 96.5 kph in under 2.0 seconds, which makes it super-fast on the road.

The real testing will start soon with Heidfeld leading the development team with the help of Rene Wollmann, who remained associated with Mercedes-AMG to develop the forthcoming One hypercar. Wollmann will lead the sports car development project.

Talking about the powertrain of the Pininfarina Battista, it boasts four motors taken from Rimac. Thanks to the 120-kilowatt-hour battery pack, the car can pump out 1,877 horsepower and 1,696 pound-feet of torque. This whopping power will enable it to hit 300 kph in fewer than 12 seconds. The top speed is capped at 350 kph. Pininfarina says the Battista can travel 450 km under certain conditions.

Pininfarina will create only 150 units for worldwide customers, with 50 of those reserved for North America. The price starts at $2.26 million. We expect it to reach their proud honors in the last quarter of next year.
