The thrill-seekers and petrol-heads would be happy to know that Chevrolet has included six new 2019 Chevrolet Camaros for perfect driving experiences at Yas Marina Circuit. The new lineup includes the 2019 Camaro ZL1 and modified 2019 Camaro SS allowing motorists to participate in drag racing and experience the drifting stunts. Other activities aficionados would be able to enjoy are track driving and karting.
The Chevrolet Camaro Drag Racing experience allows professional drag racers to use the 2019 Camaro ZL1 in a regulated setting. The participants will first see a test lap run by an expert driver. Later, they could get behind the wheels and hit the pedal hard to achieve 100 km/h speed in just 3.5 seconds.
The next experience is the Chevrolet Drift Taxi, which is purely a passenger experience as the participants cannot drift the vehicle themselves but sit as a passenger to experience the drifts of the Camaro SS.
Talking about the inclusion of the three 2SS and three ZL1 Camaros, Ali Al Marzooqi, Sales Director at Yas Marina Circuit stated: “Driving experiences increasingly play a major part in the success of the Yas Marina Circuit and the addition of an iconic car like the Camaro to the drag race experience and drifting taxi has further encouraged motorheads to get on the track. We look forward to taking our partnership with Chevrolet to the next level, introducing new experiences for car enthusiasts across the UAE.”
Ahmed Soudodi, Head of Brand at Chevrolet Middle East also added his voice: “It gives us great pleasure to hand over the keys of six brand new 2019 Camaros to the Yas Marina Circuit. The Camaro has been an icon of American performance engineering for decades and we are very excited to give participants the chance to experience the thrill of driving one on the track.”
Before the start of the experience, the drag racers get a short training on safety laws and response in the reaction simulator chamber. Here they learn to handle their vehicle via staging, braking zones, and the finish line. After the training, they could get behind the wheels and astound the crowd with their amazing performances.
Talking about the 2019 Camaro SS, it carries a 6.2L LT1 direct-injected Small Block V-8 engine pumping out 455 hp (339 kW) and 617Nm of torque. On the other hand, the Camaro ZL1 houses a supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine generating 650 hp (485 kW).
