The Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner has made its global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show to commemorate the Bentley centenary in 2019. Mulliner will handbuild only 100 units based on the new Continental GT, in Crewe, England.
The Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner is built in honor of Sir Henry Ralph Stanley ‘Tim’ Birkin. With Birkin’s close collaboration, the No.9 4.5L ‘Blower’ was created. Birkin used it to race at the 1930 Le Mans 24 Hours. He ordered a number of 4.5 Liter Bentleys powered by a supercharger good for 175 bhp.
The Number 9 Edition by Mulliner differentiates itself from the regular Continental GT by No.9 badge and a daring, identical front grille graphic. The two exterior paint options include Viridian green and Beluga black. They can also opt for 21”, 10-spoke wheels in the same shade.
The interior options include Cumbrian Green or Beluga heritage hides, with enhanced gloss levels to the seats, inner door panel, and other places. In the honor of 1930 ‘Blower’, Mulliner has used debossed ‘B’ logos at the seat headrests and door panels. The center console features an exclusive British Jaeger clock face, which takes its idea from the original No. 9 ‘Blower’s’ dials.
Moreover, every vehicle in the model includes 18K gold plated organ stops taking an idea from those in the No.9 ‘Blower’ and ‘1 of 100’ treadplates.
The new Continental GT can run to 60 mph in only 3.6 seconds (100 km/h in 3.7 seconds) with a top speed of 207 mph (333 km/h).
