Ford donated 2019 Ford GT Heritage Edition for a charity Auction sporting the iconic Gulf Oil costume. It is the same attire we saw on the GT40 that triumphed the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968 and1969. The car earned a whopping $2.5 million, and this money will serve the United Way for Southeastern Michigan charity.
The Vin 001 car wearing light blue and orange color scheme was bought by Rick Hendrick at a Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. Rick Hendrick owns Hendrick Motorsports and has been buying such cars for years.
The American automaker is currently manufacturing 2019 Ford GT for a little less than $500,000. The car is also accessible in Carbon Series, which is similar to GT’s earlier Competition series. However, it does have some latest additions in place including a radio and an air conditioning system. The new GT retains a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 creating 647 horsepower.
During Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale auction, Ford also presented 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 for the charity auction. The Shelby was also sold for a huge $1.1 million.
