Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority has increased Sharjah Taxi price by Dh2 effective from December 1, 2018. Last time we saw a hike in price was in October 2015. The taxi fare now starts at Dh13.5.
The increase in the price of Sharjah Taxi service would “help improve services”. It was executed after a “number of studies and surveys”. “Studies showed that the taxi fare in Sharjah was the lowest as compared to other emirates.” “This small hike will help hone the skills of the cabbies of the four franchise taxi companies operating in Sharjah.”
According to a public survey, this hike in fare will dissuade commuters from taking taxis for their commutes. Some commuters even think of buying a cheap car or use a bus rather than using a taxi.
