Honda Rugged Open Air Vehicle Concept has made an appearance at the 2018 SEMA show to rival the likes of Ford Raptor and Chevy Colorado ZR2. The “ultimate open-air off-road Honda adventure vehicle” is a mixture of Honda Ridgeline and Honda Pioneer 1000, which is evident from its construction throughout.
The interior takes most of the elements from Ridgeline including dash, the footwell region, and the instrument cluster. The exterior employs a deeply revised Ridgeline structure and suspension. The details about the powertrain are still unknown but seeing the trend, we can safely bet it would retain the 3.5L V6 from the Ridgeline.
Now talking about the Pioneer 1000, the Honda Rugged Open Air Vehicle Concept has Pioneer doors, its revised bed, and the tailgate. Moreover, it gets reskinned Civic Type R seats for serious dune bashing. The skid plates and cladding are also taken from Pioneer 1000, and there are two RAM smartphone holder mounts on the dash.
Honda did not tell if this will go into production or not, however, we cannot stop imagining ourselves go bombing around the UAE sands.
