Audi e-Tron owners do not have to worry about their car’s drive range anymore as Audi has made available 72,000 charging points in 16 European markets. This means the drivers don’t have to worry about mileage when taking their electric car on a long drive. The e-Tron already offers 400 kilometers drive range in the realistic WLTP cycle. An overnight charge is all it needs to embark on a long journey.

“The e-Tron Charging Service builds confidence in our electric initiative. Following on from the Audi e-Tron, in 2019 the Audi e-Tron Sportback will be the second electric car to go on sale, followed in 2020 by the Audi e-Tron GT from Audi Sport. We already have the right answers to many of the questions and concerns regarding charging,” said Peter Mertens, Member of the Board of Management of AUDI AG for Technical Development.

Audi is looking to expand these charging points by including 8 more markets in Eastern Europe. All a customer has to do is register at the myAudi portal and choose their charging contract. After subscription, they get an e-Tron charging service card. This has a clear pricing model which sends bill monthly. The portal shows all the charging history, which puts owners at ease.

“With the e-Tron Charging Service, we are actually offering a premium charging service ahead of the Audi E-Tron’s market introduction. The product is tailored to the needs of our customers. We will be steadily expanding the service hand in hand with our strong partner Digital Charging Solutions,” stated Fermin Soneira, Head of Product Marketing at Audi.

MyAudi app does not only provide charging feature but also enables drivers to plan their trips on it. It guides them to suitable routes and the charging stations which they can use along the way to reach their destination without any hassle. During an active charge, the app displays the remaining charging time and the battery status.

From mid-2019, all e-Tron models will come equipped with plug & charge function that will eliminate the need of the charging card. Audi is also a part of Lonity venture, which allows it to charge up to 150 kW on a high-output DC charging station in just half an hour.

The e-Tron will make its world debut today while the SUV’s booking started yesterday. We do not have any news about its arrival in the UAE.
