Jeep has announced plans to showcase a Polar limited edition of the Wrangler at the Frankfurt Motor Show which kicks off next week.
This latest special edition is based on the Wrangler Unlimited model and wears a bespoke Hydro Blue exterior paint with a black interior. It has received unique 18-inch glossy black rims and a body-colored hard top, along with several Mopar accessories. On the front fender flares Jeep has put the 78° S and 106° E coordinates as a reference to Vostok, Antarctica which currently holds the record for the most severe temperature ever recorded: -98.2 degrees Celsius (-128.56 degrees Fahrenheit).
It will be sold in Europe as a two- or four-door with a 2.8-liter CRD turbodiesel outputting 200 HP (147 kW) at 3,600 rpm and a peak torque of 460 Nm (339 lb-ft) available between 1,600 and 2,600 rpm when mated to the 5-speed automatic gearbox. When connected to the six-speed manual, the engine outputs 200 HP and 410 Nm (302 lb-ft) between 2,600 and 3,200 rpm. There’s also a V6 3.6-liter gasoline engine rated at 284 HP (209 kW) and 347 Nm (256 lb-ft) of torque which comes linked to a 5-speed auto ‘box.
Standard goodies include cruise control, heated front seats, leather steering wheel, automatic climate control and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. For more money the vehicle can be optionally configured with a Polar Pack 1 package encompassing front side airbags, 6.5-inch Uconnect with 40GB HDD, USB/AUX port and DVD player.
