The UAE’s first-ever automobile manufacturer, Jannarelly will take part in the 102nd Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado, America on June 24th. Jannarelly will become the first UAE based company to enter USA’s second oldest racecar event. However, the automaker will not enter in the hill climb event as a competitor but as a safety car.

To take part as the Official Safety Car (OSC), the auto manufacturer has readied a unique version of its Design-1 sports car. The automaker has had support from the likes of Pirelli while PureDrive Automotive designed and developed it.

Commenting on the joint-venture, Jannarelly Co-Founder, Anthony Jannarelly, remarked, “Providing the OSC through our partnership with PureDrive is a fantastic introduction to the racing world.  Pikes Peak is all about twisty roads and pure thrill, so this is the perfect playground to enjoy the driving experience of our retro-futuristic Design-1.  Our goal is to establish a long relationship with PureDrive and PPIHC, learn this year, and start competing in 2019.”

The Design-1 sports car is inspired by a classical 1960’s body that weighs only 810 kgs and comes with an engine that produces more than 320 bhp. Jannarelly promises to tailor the car to the specific needs of its limited customers. The base version is available for AED220,500. There will be 30 Launch Edition vehicles whereas only 10 special Pikes Peak Edition vehicles will be accessible
