Uber is going one step ahead by introducing an Uber flying taxi. The ride-hailing company has announced plans to invest $23.4 million in France for the next 5 years as part of the flying taxi initiative. Uber will work with a local technical institute, Ecole Polytechnique to develop the electric flying vehicle.

Uber will also open a research and development institute in Paris as part of the deal, which will be its first outside North America. The facility is set to open later this year.

The ride-hailing company says, the flying aircraft will reach heights of about 1,000 to 2,000 feet and will fly on predesignated UberAir routes. The taxi will be operated by humans until the automated technology becomes available. The Uber flying taxi will probably be released by 2023 in partnership with NASA, so we expect higher chances of this project’s success.

It is worth mentioning here that the flying taxi has already debuted in Dubai.
