Last weekend brought glad tidings for Tesla fans as Elon Musk unveiled details about two dual-motor 4-wheel drive variants of the Tesla Model 3. These high-performance trims will go from naught to sixty in just 3.5 seconds and cost buyers nearly a hundred grand. The standard version covers the same distance in 4.6 seconds.

There will be no change in the battery power of the car, which remains at 310 miles per charge like the base Model 3. The X factor is the extra motor that allows the car to post an improvement of about 1.6 seconds on the acceleration. The new and upcoming model also has an improved top speed of 155 mph from the base version’s 140 mph.

The reason for Model 3’s popularity is its affordable price of $35,000. It will be interesting to see how the market reacts to the $78,000 price of the performance variant. Musk also stated in his tweet that the 78k price is excluding the Tesla’s AutoPilot.

There are even cosmetic upgrades in the interior for the Tesla Model 3. Deliveries for the high-performance version start in July 2018.
