Germany is known for being home to some of the greatest automobile making companies in the world. While Borgward is not the most famous, it is certainly trying to be, by proving its mettle with the introduction of the BX6 crossover SUV.
The BX6 was first unveiled as a concept in 2016 and at the Beijing Auto Show held earlier in 2018, the production version was released.
The BX6 faces tough competition from some of the industry’s greats like the BMW X4 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. It has been fitted with a powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine capable of making 220 hp and 22- lb-ft of torque while being teamed up with a 6-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels.
It is expected that the BX6 will also have a hybrid version, which pertains to Borgward will also succumb to popular demand. This same Plug-in hybrid system will be featured in the BX5 SUV.
On the outside, the crossover looks aggressive yet cool thanks to the sharp LED lights and 19-inch alloy rims. The story in the interior is a bit different. The cabin features a leather trim that is accentuated by the smart infotainment system. A unique function in the infotainment system allows drivers to access their phone. They can make calls and send SMS among other things.
The BX6 crossover SUV is set to be released in the UAE by the 4th quarter of 2018.
