Severn Valley Motorsports, a British company, tuned a Nissan Qashqai SUV to make it fastest SUV. The tuned SUV crossed the 200-mph mark and achieved a top speed of 237 mph with the help of 2,000 horsepower engine. The current generation Qashqai, also sold by the name Rogue Sport in the U.S, is a compact SUV built by the Japanese automaker, Nissan.
Last May, Toyota’s modified Land Cruiser was crowned the fastest with a 230.02 mph top speed and nearly after a year, last Saturday, the Qashqai was crowned to be the fastest SUV in the world. The Severn team achieved the feat courtesy of their extensive experience with the Nissan GT-R. They previously attempted to swap a Nissan GT-R engine to the Qashqai but that was still rough around the edges.
This year the effort made by Sever shows in the build of the custom Qashqai. The interior, as well as the engine, has been revamped and refreshed to concur with the present safety standards. Every component that could be swapped or upgraded was changed and a fresh turbocharger kit was installed. The outcome was a beastly machine that shattered the previous record.
Surprisingly, other brand’s machines present at the event like Lamborghini’s Aventador and McLaren’s 720S were slower than the Qashqai.
