The Chinese vehicle’s market is hungry for high-end luxury vehicles. That is why all global automakers introduce their premium models in China that have amenities like leather reclining seats and mood-based ambient lighting. The famous Swedish automaker, Volvo is looking to step up their game in the Chinese market by introducing an S90 sedan inspired concept dubbed the S90 Ambience at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show today.

Volvo claims that passengers will be welcomed to a unique ambience as soon as they enter the vehicle, and this experience will be the first in the vehicle industry. By making use of sounds, visuals and scents, the interior cabin will be made inviting and appealing, all controllable through a dedicated smartphone app.

Using the app, the passenger can choose any of the 7 available themes that alter the mood of the vehicle. Choices range from Northern Lights and Scandinavian Forest to Swan Lake, Archipelago and Rain, each of which will set a different mood for the passengers. The Nocturnal theme can be selected to help with sleep, which is also helped through Volvo’s S90 Excellence that involves the removal of the front passenger seat to maximize legroom and comfort for the passenger sitting in the rear.

The mood-setting sounds play through Bowers & Wilkins top-class audio system and four different custom scents are disseminated from a small opening in the dashboard. Although the S90 Ambience is just a concept, for now, Volvo claims it will soon be a part of premium Volvo vehicles.
