A 5,000 hp car sounds like a dream but it might become a reality as Devel Sixteen is being tested in Dubai. Devel released a video in December 2015 showing the hypercar reaching a maximum output of 4,515 hp during a dyno test run, but nothing was confirmed then.

The company has released yet another video on their social media platform (you can check above), Instagram, which shows the car being tested in the deserts of Dubai. Although the video gives no hint of the car reaching the proposed output of 5,000 hp, it certainly proves the car is merrily on its way to achieve its goal. Because the test was conducted on low power and at twenty percent throttle, the hypercar do not feel so exciting.

The Devel Sixteen might come with three engine options when it reaches the showrooms. The base model would house a 1,500 hp V8, whereas a 3,000 hp engine will sit between the standard and 5,007 horsepower variant. However, the top of the line version won’t be street legal.

Hypercar manufacturers claim the engines do not restrict a hyper car’s potential but the tires. At high speeds, the tires melt due to heat, which is a challenge Devel has to beat in order to make its way among the elites. It will be interesting to see what kind of tires Devel will use on their hypercar to make it successful.
