The Hyundai Nexo fuel cell vehicle was first displayed earlier this year at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and the automaker claimed that it can run 378 miles (609 kilometers) on a single charge, making it the car with the best driving range. The range, however, follows Korea’s own fuel economy specification standards, so it will be different from EPA estimates.
The Hyundai Nexo is a compact SUV model carrying a floor-mounted 40 kW battery pack along with a 95kW hydrogen fuel-cell. The battery pack is used to power the 120kW/395Nm electric drive motor. Moreover, Hyundai states that the Nexo is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.2 seconds with a top speed of 178.6 km/h.
The automaker also participated in a 118-mile trek from Seoul to Pyeongchang, South Korea with the Hyundai Nexo to showcase the SUV’s class-leading technology ahead of the Winter Olympic Games.
Besides a fuel efficient drive, the Hyundai Nexo also boasts impressive tech amenities and self-driving features. The front-dash incorporates a 12.3-inch instrument panel which provides a wide-angle surround view. It also has a level 4 autonomous capability and can park as well as steer itself within marked lanes. The SUV is also able to adjust its speed according the map-based data.
The starting price of the 2018 Hyundai Nexo is approximately $100,000.
