The CEO of Tesla Inc and Space X, Elon Musk declared the launch of the Falcon Heavy rocket last year in December. At that time, the CEO also stated his personal cherry red Tesla Roadster would be part of the space journey acting as a payload. To confirm his intentions, Musk posted a picture on his Instagram account, on December 22 2017, showing the Tesla Roadster attached to a mounting situated in the payload area. He also stated that using conventional payloads such as concrete and steel would be “boring” and so the decision was made to add something unusual.

The rocket is scheduled to take off into space on February 6th carrying the Roadster, assuming the car won’t explode during the lift-off.  Falcon Heavy will be orbiting Mars for a billion years playing David Bowie’s Space Oddity for as long as power is available.

Falcon Heavy, according to Space X claims, is currently the most powerful rocket in the world. It is capable of lifting more than 119,000 pounds of matter, which is equal to a Boeing 737 carrying passengers, fuel and luggage at full capacity. The rocket was created with the intention of someday sending human beings to Mars in hopes of colonizing it. Given that the launch in February becomes successful, this dream could be part of the near future.
