A few weeks back, news regarding a special series Ferrari 488 was confirmed by California Air Resources Board and now leaked information suggests the automaker held a private meeting with the dealers to discuss more regarding this monstrous sports coupe.
Previous reports revealed that the new special Series Ferrari 488 will be called “488 GTO”, however, the presentation referred the upcoming car as “New V8 Sport Special Series” hinting that the ‘GTO’ nameplate will not be used.
The Special Series Ferrari 488 will house the most powerful Ferrari V8 engine till now. The expected power output is likely to be more than 700 horsepower. The engine will be the same as available in the 488 Challenge but will feature weight reduction by almost 10 percent.
Besides the powertrain, the body kit of the Special Series Ferrari 488 will also be lightweight thanks to the extensive use of carbon-fiber on the bumpers, spoiler, front-dash, center-tunnel, hood, and the 20-inch wheels.
Talking about the aerodynamic, the upcoming Ferrari 488 will render new S-Ducts and a GTE-Inspired rear diffuser for improved efficiency compared to the regular 488. Other modifications such as new race gearshift strategy, slidelip management setting and optimized direct steering ratio will also upgrade the performance.
We can expect the first look of the car at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
