Mercedes-Benz has announced three new 53-series models of the CLS, E-Class Coupe and the E-Class Cabriolet. The new models, namely the CLS 53 4MATIC+, AMG E 53 4MATIC+ Coupé and AMG E 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet, will be a blend of robust power, efficiency, and sporty exuberance. The new models will be a step forward toward hybrid technology for Mercedes. Drawing attention toward this new inclusion, Tobias Moers, Mercedes’ high official said, “With the three new 53-series models we are extending our portfolio in the first step toward a hybridized future with a leading-edge combination of sporty design, performance, and efficiency…”

The innovative new 3.0 liter in-line-6 cylinder engine will be aided by the new EQ Boost starter alternator, intelligent charging via an electric auxiliary compressor and an exhaust gas turbocharger. These innovations will solidify AMG’s position in the world of motorcars, as a more fuel efficient and environment-friendly option. The CLS 53 4MATIC+ hastes from 0 to100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 250km/h (270km/h with AMG Driver’s package) with minimal CO2 emissions of 200g/km and a decent fuel efficiency of 8.4l/100km. The technical figures for Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+ Coupé and Cabriolet versions are identical to the CLS version, however, acceleration timings for the Coupe are an exception. The Coupe is slightly faster at 4.4 seconds when accelerating from 0-100km/h. All models produce 435hp at 6200 rpm and 520NM of torque between 1800-5800 rpm.

Mercedes-Benz has also given a distinct look to the three new 53-series models. A silver chrome twin-blade radiator grille is common among the three new sedans. The front of these cars is adorned with black flics and a front splitter in silver chrome. The outer air intakes have two horizontal fins in silver chrome and side sill panels make the 53 series models more visually pleasing. On the rear, the rear apron has been redesigned and mudflaps are positioned to make these cars more aerodynamic. The CLS 53 4MATIC+ has additional features to make it stand out, such as side air curtains, 19-inch alloy wheels and so on.

The interiors are visually appealing. The cockpit contains a large display, as well as, a central display above the center console which allows the driver to choose different display styles, check the engine and transmission oil temperature, engine output and torque on the 12.3-inch screen. The voice control and touch-sensitive controls are also available allowing the driver to remain focused on driving. A number of other features like new AMG performance steering wheel, AMG dynamic select, AMG Ride Control+ etc, are also available.
