Police in Sharjah are urging owners to register trailers by the end of December 2017, otherwise, they will face a hefty fine of Dh1,000, according to article 96 in the traffic and license department. The crackdown for unregistered trailers is scheduled to start in January 2018.

This measure is taken to ensure road safety and avert incidents occurred due to trailers that do not meet safety standards.

Lieutenant Colonel Hamed Al Jalaf said in a statement that the new rule has been implemented as part of a plan by Ministry of Interior. The deputy director of the machines and motorists license says the trailers must be registered annually and will receive a plate number that needs to be displayed clearly.

To complete registration and beat the deadline, trailer owners should proceed to Tasjeel centers. The first 50 applicants can benefit from a fee waiver.
