The Los Angeles based automaker, Thor Trucks introduced new Thor electric semi-trucks that provide corporate clients with an alternative to Tesla semi-trucks. The startup, Thor Trucks, recently unveiled the all-electric semi called ET-One that is expected to be on road in 2019, the same time Tesla electric semi-trucks are to hit the markets.
The Thor trucks have a range of 300 miles on a single battery charge along with a freight capacity of 40 tons and speed of 300mph.The automaker is currently offering two versions or models of the semi-trucks, a 300-mile all-electric semi and a 500-mile semi-truck both of which support respective ranges off a single battery charge.
While the specs for the semi trucks from Tesla and the LA startup somewhat differ, the 300-mile all-electric semis for both the firms share the same price costing $150,000 per truck. Tesla’s 500-mile semi-truck, however, costs $180,000.
Tesla Trucks have already received an abundance of preorders for their electric semi-trucks but the LA startup with its Thor electric semi-trucks is looking forward to working in parallel with Tesla to offer alternatives to the transport industry having unveiled their all-electric semi on Wednesday. The fact that Thor semi-truck is priced at $150,000 firmly puts it up as a promising Tesla competitor.
