The exclusive distributor of Toyota in the UAE, Al Futtaim Motors displayed the 2018 Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) at the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show to mark the drive toward sustainable mobility. Toyota has worked hard on its hybrid engine and enabled the Camry HEV to render more than 70% greater fuel efficiency than a standard petrol engine. The revised 2.5L engine coupled with enhanced electric motor generates 212 horsepower for smoother and more responsive acceleration.
The driving has been improved by a lightweight, 30% more rigid body, a new suspension, contemporary technology, and outstanding safety features.
Saud Abbasi, Managing Director of Toyota at Al-Futtaim Motors, said: “Toyota was the first to introduce the Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology to the UAE, through the launch of Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle in 2008. Today, this model grew to a fleet of over 1500 Hybrid Electric taxis and is expected to cross the 2000 mark by the end of the year. Our recent handovers of Camry Electric Hybrid to key taxi operators confirm that HEV motoring is the most practical low-emission mobility solution that will help fleet operators meet their environmental targets in support of UAE’s Vision 2021.”
The stunning 2018 Camry Hybrid Electric Vehicle is created on Toyota’s New Global Architecture and uses a newly-created double wishbone rear suspension system that offers a first-class ride comfort, overall height, floor height, and hood height lowered for a low center of gravity, high rigidity body with a 30% boost in torsional firmness, new 4-point engine mount to eliminate engine shaking transferred to the cabin, and sound-reducing and sound separation material with bigger area and thickness.
There are 3 drive modes including Sport, Eco, and Normal. As the name suggests, the Sport is for drivers looking for a quick acceleration, the Eco works best for people looking for fuel efficiency, while the Normal mode is good for both fuel economy and acceleration.
