Dubai Police tech arsenal is getting better and better by every year. At the 2017 Gitex, Dubai police showcased a flying motorbike, a smart motorbike, and a self-driving vehicle.

The flying motorbike, which is named ‘Hoversurf’, will be used for emergency purposes. “It works on electricity and can fly at five meters height and carry a policeman during emergency situations and heavy traffic. The bike can also fly without a passenger and can go up to 6 kilometers. It can fly for 25 minutes and can carry up to 300 kg of weight at a speed of 70km/h,” First Sergeant Ali Ahmad Mohammad from the VIP Security Department in Dubai Police told Gulf News.

Apart from it, the police force displayed a smart motorbike sporting multiple cameras to monitor irresponsible motorists. This bike is created by Dubai Police in association with Japanese company Mikasa.

“The smart motorbike has eight cameras to take pictures and videos of violating vehicles. The battery-operated motorbike has a maximum speed of 200km/h,” said Huda Hassan, an Emirati policewoman.

“We will check it after 2017 Gitex for a week and see the results before taking it to the streets,” she added.

Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, director of the Smart Services Department at Dubai Police, stated: “This year, Dubai Police are participating in 2017 Gitex with several smart services and devices.”
