After catching the 2018 Porsche Cayenne SUV test driving a couple of times with reports to enter production by the end of this year, now we know about its debut date. According to to CarandDriver, the new SUV will make its first public appearance on August 29th.
Under the hood, the 2018 Porsche Cayenne is expected to house either a single or a twin-turbo charged V6 engine, while a turbocharged V8 unit is likely to join the lineup later. Additionally, the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid will also be arriving in the U.S. carrying a similar powertrain as available in the Panamera S E-Hybrid delivering 680 horsepower.
Underpinning the 2018 Porsche Cayenne SUV will be the Volkswagen’s MLB platform. The same architecture is also found in a number of recently launched SUVs including the 2017 Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, and 2018 Audi Q5. The MLB platform makes use of light-weight materials such as aluminum to ensure a low curb weight, improved rigidity and a higher fuel efficiency. Reports indicate the upcoming Lamborghini URUS will also adopt the same platform.
The automaker has not yet revealed any information regarding the diesel powertrains. Stay tuned for more updates on the story.
