Ford has released the performance details of the upcoming 2018 Ford Mustang GT, which show the new GT will be the fastest Ford Mustang ever built.

The 2018 Ford Mustang GT will be powered by an upgraded 5.0L V8 engine churning out 460 horsepower and 420 pounds-feet of torque. The engine will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission system and will allow the 2018 Mustang GT to sprint from standstill to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds with the help of a new ‘Drag Strip’ mode. This means that the 2018 Ford Mustang GT will also be quicker compared to its rivals such as the Chevrolet Camaro SS.

The drag strip mode improves gear shifting and helps in achieving maximum acceleration when driving in a straight line. Besides the drag strip mode, the 2018 Ford Mustang GT feature four other drive modes including Normal, Sport, Track and Snow/Wet.

Another engine option is 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo which delivers 310 horsepower and 350 pounds-feet of torque. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and will enable the Mustang to go from 0 to 60 mph in under 5.0 seconds.

The pricing details and fuel economy ratings will be disclosed in the coming months. Check out our previous article on its RPM line.
