The new prototype of Bentley Bentayga has been spotted testing on the roads of Spain and we believe that was the Bentayga plug-in hybrid version of the luxury SUV.
The plan to launch Bentley Bentayga plug-in hybrid was announced in 2015 and the automaker mentioned that it will arrive by 2017. Although, the prototype looks almost same as the regular Bentayga, it does have one distinction, that is the additional fuel cap on the rear fender for plugging in the charger.
Bentley has not revealed any details regarding the powertrain, however the spy photographer was able to find out that the prototype was fitted with a 3.0-liter V6 hybrid engine, which is also present in the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid. The total power generated by this hybrid system is 416 horsepower and 435 lb-ft of torque. Reports suggest the Bentley Bentayga plug-in hybrid will offer an even higher power output. Moreover, the electric range will also be better.
The plug-in hybrid Bentayga may hit the floors of Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 in September. If not, we expect it to arrive at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, which will be held in November.
More details will be revealed closer to the launch date. The first editions bentayga were launched in the UAE in June last year.
