Mercedes-AMG is planning to expand its lineup by adding the second-generation 2019 Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic very soon.

The current A45 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L gasoline engine, which delivers 376 bhp. Official reports suggest the automaker will revise the powertrain and improve its capability for a better performance. It is expected to churn out over 400 bhp and will compete against the likes of Audi RS3 and BMW M2. With the new reworked engine, it is highly likely that the 2019 Mercedes-AMG A45 will become the most powerful series-production hatchback built by the German automaker.

Besides an increase in power output, reports also indicate the 2019 AMG A45 will produce additional 20 lb.-ft of torque and will be capable of going from standstill to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in just 4.0 seconds.

It will also feature a new nine-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission) system, which will deliver the power to all four wheels to render spectacular drive and handling features.

In addition to the 2019 AMG A45, the automaker also has plans to introduce another model, which will slot below the new A45, and will rival against Volkswagen Golf R and Ford Focus RS. Moreover, a plug-in hybrid version may also arrive in the future.

More details about the 2019 Mercedes-AMG A45 4Matic will be revealed in the coming months.
