Ministry of Interior UAE is appealing drivers to drive safe with an emotional safety video recently shared on its twitter account. ‘Keep the dreams alive’ video highlights perils of negligent driving via lost voices of children perished in fatal accident.
From 2015 to 2016, UAE recorded a rise of 7% in deaths caused by traffic accidents as number of deaths increased to 725 in 2016 from 675 a year earlier. That amounts to a rate of 5.76 deaths per 100,000 citizens in the UAE. Out of 725 deaths, 55 were aged between 18 and 30, which makes 7.5% young dreams lost on road due to driver’s negligence.
Undersecretary of MOIUAE said they are hard at work in bringing death rate to 3 per 100,000 by year 2021 and absolute zero deaths pertaining to road accidents by 2030. Previously, he also explained that main focus of Abu Dhabi’s police is ensuring safety on the road and employing strategic plans to improve traffic safety system.
He said we as citizens need to accept the fact that road safety is our responsibility. Society has to move as one and value theirs as well as lives of others to make roads safer.
