Life of motorists in Sharjah has been eased through new paid parking zones, which became operational yesterday. The four new parking spaces will help Sharjah municipality to eliminate parking shortage in the city, discouraging motorists from parking for longer periods.

The municipality fixed latest parking meters along the streets of Umm Al Tarafa, Abdul Rahman Ibn Awf street, Khalil Mutran street and Street Number 9. Apart from these, the government has also cancelled free midday parking to dissuade motorist from parking next to residential vicinities.

The parking meters will be functional between 8am and 12am in the month of Ramadan.

The government has also introduced new paying options for parking fees which include sending an SMS to 5566 and using Sharjah’s seasonal parking cards. These cards are location based with 3 months to 1 year validity.
