Sharjah police has decided to deploy 90 special patrolling units in Ramadan for avoiding congestion at peak hours. This decision is in line with Ministry of Interior’s approach toward making roads safer and is dubbed as ‘security and safety initiative for month of Ramadan’. It will ensure smooth flow of traffic near markets and areas of strategic importance.
Director of Patrol and Traffic Department, Sharjah, said in a statement that a comprehensive traffic plan has been prepared for Ramadan for helping them in tackling challenging situations during Iftar times in the holy month.
The main emphasis of 90 special patrolling units will be controlling traffic near markets, shopping malls and mosques. These units will ensure that residents don’t contribute to congestion by leaving their cars parked on roads near market places, and will also assist in managing flow of traffic near mosques during prayer times.
Additionally, these units will coordinate with local police department and Al Ihsan Society charity organization, in distributing Iftar meals to citizens stuck on roads during Iftar times. He also stressed that motorists should embody the spirit of Ramadan and give pedestrians way near the Iftar time.
