To tackle the ongoing environmental issues in the Middle East, Al-Futtaim Motors – exclusive distributor of Toyota, Lexus, Hino and Toyota Material Handling Equipment – has announced to provide its support to the UAE government to work for a greener environment. The announcement was made at the Government Accelerators Event which was held at the Emirates Tower on 10th May, 2017.
Toyota is already working toward reducing the emissions from its vehicles. To show the automaker’s plans to introduce an efficient and more greener transport solution, Al-Futtaim Motors displayed the Toyota Mirai Fuel Cell vehicle at the event, which is a hydrogen powered sedan with zero emission. The vehicle has also been test driven by H.E. Eng. Suhail Al Mazrouei, the UAE’s Minister of Energy. The Toyota Mirai is recharged using the electricity produced by the hydrogen and not by plugging into any electricity grid. Moreover, it has a range of up to 500 km.
Talking at the event, Yousuf Al Raeesi, Director of Government Affairs & Health, Safety, Security and Environment at Al-Futtaim Motors stated that taking part at the Government Accelerators Event was essential in order to enlighten the general public about the future of greener environment and motoring. He also stated that Toyota is working toward Sustainable Mobility and the automaker has developed and sold over 10 million hybrid vehicles globally.
