Dubai Police has recently gone on a ‘green drive’ inducting multiple hybrids and electric cars into its fleet, with BMW i3 green car being the latest addition. Other member of BMW i-series, the i8 is already part of Dubai Police’s stable mainly as a PR tool, to increase public’s awareness toward using green cars.
Though the video highlighting the BMW i3’s inclusion into Dubai Police’s fleet didn’t talk about its duties, it can be safely assumed that it will also serve in spreading awareness and reaching target for Dubai’s Green Car Initiative.
It’s interesting to know that Dubai Police is not the first law enforcer to include the BMW i3, it is already serving in Los Angeles Police, Austria, Germany and in UK’s fire Department. Dubai Police is already famous in the world for showcasing its rather impressive stable of super cars including Aston Martins, Nissan GTRs, Bugatti Veyron, McLaren and Ferraris. These supercars are mostly used for PR and public awareness campaigns because of their crowd drawing powers.
It will be no surprise if BMW i3 green car is also put to similar use as its top speed of 93 mph (electronically limited) and range of 150 miles won’t make it a super cop anytime soon.
