If you believe you have been issued a traffic fine erroneously and you can prove your innocence, Dubai police gives you the opportunity to contest traffic fine.
There are three options for you to file a complaint against an incorrectly issued traffic fine:
- Go to general directorate of traffic headquarters
- Call on 04-6063755 or go to police website – dubaipolice.gov.ae
- Install Dubai police App (Android, iOS) and click on “contest a fine” link.
You must carry supporting documents to contest traffic fine. Once the appeal is registered, a special team comprising of six officers – deputy general of traffic department, two traffic control officers, a fines officer, representative of the Financial Supervisory General Headquarters of Dubai Police, and a representative of the Legal Affairs will review your complaint and respond within five working days. If decision goes in your favor, the traffic fine will be cancelled.
In case you are not satisfied with the decision, you can contact the traffic prosecutor for the final verdict.
According to brigadier Al Mazroui, in majority of the cases, the confusion occurs due to a mistake in the plate number’s code and that can be corrected within an hour and the fine can be erased.
