Fiat Chrysler’s Dodge brand has unveiled the 840 hp 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which they claim to be the fastest car in the world with 2.3 second score to reach 60 mph. The launch also brought the Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel at the stage of 2017 New York Auto Show.

The ultimate expression of American muscle car produces 770 pound-feet of torque, making it one of the most powerful V-8 cars ever produced. Besides being the fastest claim, it actually has a certified Guinness World Record of lifting the front wheels off the ground for 2.92 feet.

Coming back to the claim of fastest car in the world, the Tesla Model S P100D sedan completed the 0 to 60 sprint in just 2.28 seconds recently, which wrongs the claim of Dodge. Nevertheless, the car didn’t hit the roads yet and hasn’t been used to record sprint times. Who knows it would reach to 60 mph in just 2.2 seconds or even better?

We still don’t believe we can compare the Model S with the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The reason is the latter is just a one-seat muscle car while the former is a premium luxury sedan accommodating 5 passengers. With the seats removed, the Model S can achieve wonders.

Let’s wait and watch who gets the crown of being the fastest car in the world, as Demons hit the road this summer. Only 3,300 units will be built (3,000 for US and 300 for Canada), which means we might not see them here in the UAE.
