The 2017 Shanghai Motor Show is happening next month and we just found out that a new Tesla Model X competitor, dubbed as the Skoda Vision E Concept is making its debut at the show.
The Skoda Vision E Concept will be an all-electric SUV, and the company claims it will have a range of up to 500 kilometers (310.6 miles). However, it will debut as a concept model. The production model will follow the European NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) range standards.
It will feature a 301-horsepower dual motor system along with powerful lithium ion batteries and enhanced recuperation. Moreover, the Vision E Concept will be an autonomous vehicle with level 3 autonomous capabilities. This means the Vision E will be able to run autonomously in all driving conditions, however, the driver should be present to take control of the car for any unforeseen situation.
The Skoda Vision E Concept will mark the beginning of the automaker’s electric vehicle lineup. The first electric vehicle, which will be the plug-in hybrid version of the Superb, will launch in 2019. A fully-electrified model will arrive in 2020, and by the end of 2025, Skoda plans to introduce around 5 fully electric cars.
