After the launch of Tesla in the UAE, I see more and more people are talking about electric cars. I believe the arrival of Tesla will bring a change in the UAE, since these electric vehicles are not only luxurious, but also offer the power and speed most people demand in the Emirates. Tesla has installed some EV chargers across the Emirates and is working to install more in the coming months. However, this didn’t stop the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to unveil their hybrid and electric car charging stations in Dubai.

These charging stations are of different types including Home, Public and Fast chargers. The Home charger takes up to 7 hours, the public charger take takes 2 to 4 hours, while Fast charger just takes 30 to 40 minutes for 80% charging. The charging time depends on the size of the battery though.
You can charge your electric and plug-in hybrid cars on any of the charging stations after registering your vehicle with DEWA and getting a card, which requires you to deposit Dh500 as refundable security.
