The 2018 BMW X7 is scheduled to debut sometime next year; however, we have just received some important details regarding the new flagship SUV.
Initially, it was reported that the 2018 BMW X7 SUV will share components with the BMW 7 Series sedan, but according to Auto Express, it will be more close to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV, which is currently in its testing phase.
Under the hood, the 2018 BMW X7 is most likely to carry six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder engines. A plug-in hybrid powertrain is also expected for the SUV. The hybrid engine will be adopted from the BMW X5.
Although the BMW X7 is expected to share its powertrain with the X5, it won’t have any similarities with the X5 in terms of design. According to MW AG sales and marketing director, Ian Robertson, the BMW X7 has very little resemblance to the X5 and it will have its own identity.
The base BMW X7 is reported to carry a price tag of £70,000 ($86,000) in the UK, which makes it expensive compared to Mercedes GLS range. The high-end variants will be priced higher of course.
