Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) prepares 64 initiatives for improving the DTC services (Dubai Taxi Corporation by 2021. The chairman of Board of Executive Directors RTA, Mattar Al Tayer endorsed the improvement plan while repeatedly stating the importance of upgrading taxi services across Dubai to catch up on UAE vision 2021. Heading toward the goal of achieving 22 initiatives by 2019, Al Tayer emphasized on setting Smart Taxis and improving the conduct of cab drivers for their clients. He looked committed not only in satisfying the customers, but also improving the economy by transforming various business and tourism sectors in Dubai.

The RTA plan to improve DTC services has five major aspects:

  • Testing the on-road performance of smart taxis and electric vehicles
  • Expanding vehicle service stations and dispatch centers
  • Promoting affiliation with multiple transport companies
  • Improving the HR policy by keeping a check on the workload and attitude of the appointed drivers
  • Measuring the impact and effectiveness of executed plans

By the end of this plan in 2021, we expect to see 50% hybrid taxis, which are in line with Dubai’s Green Mobility Initiative to reduce carbon emissions by 2%.
