The all-new 2017 GMC Acadia first made its public appearance at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. It was unveiled in the Middle-East in October. It is developed to cater the requirements of a wide range of customers featuring a number of latest technologies and a powerful engine.

The 2017 GMC Acadia is offered in three versions namely Acadia SLE, Acadia SLT and Acadia Denali. We recently got a chance to test drive the range-topping Acadia Denali and below are our findings.

Walk Around the new 2017 GMC Acadia

The 2017 GMC Acadia boasts a redefined look, which makes a strong impression on any observer. The bold look comprises of a large front grille and sharp C-shaped LED head lamps with projection technology to improve visibility in foggy conditions. The wheels are 20-inch alloys adding to the overall sporty persona of Acadia.

Cockpit Impression

As always, let’s inspect the back seating compartment before going for a drive. The wheelbase measures 112.5 inches, so the cabin is quite spacious. The interior offers ample legroom and headroom, plus the leather seats are very comfortable and relaxing. The third row seating has a tight leg room and is ideal for children. With all seats in place, the 2017 Acadia has a cargo space of 12.8 cu.ft, which can be increased to 79 cu.ft, by folding the second and third row seats.

The front dash features a luxurious center stack with a large touch display in the center and other technologies, which we will inspect while driving.

2017 GMC Acadia Specs

The 2017 GMC Acadia is available in only one engine option:

  • The 3.6L V6 VVT-I engine delivering 310 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft of torque

The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission system.

Driving Dynamics

The 2017 GMC Acadia excels in terms of performance whether you drive on-road or off-road. Driving on-road, the performance was engaging, powerful and responsive around the corners. We also moved toward rough landscapes to fully check its driving capabilities and undoubtedly, the 2017 GMC Acadia does not disappoint. It features electronically controlled drive mode selector, which allows you to enhance the drive according to the terrain.

Moreover, the 2017 Acadia’s engine boasts Active Fuel Management (Cylinder Deactivation), which helps in maintaining good fuel economy. During our test drive, it consumed 11.7 L per 100km.

Technological Overview

The 2017 GMC Acadia is loaded with latest and modern interior equipment including tri-zone climate control, IntelliLink infotainment system with voice recognition system, smartphone integration, USB support, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, key-less entry/exit system, power outlets. You can also opt for the optional technology package, which includes surround vision camera, adaptive cruise control and automatic collision preparation.

Safety Features

The 2017 GMC Acadia features a range of high-end safety facilities such as front automatic braking system, Intellibeam, front and rear park assist, rear-cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, blind-zone alert, surround vision camera and more.

Dislike

The overall performance was impressive, but I did feel the acceleration getting a little sloppy when going uphill.

The standard version of 2017 GMC Acadia starts at AED 129,900, while the range-topping Denali costs AED 199,901.
