A few months back, a newly formed American electric vehicle maker, Nikola announced its plans to launch an electric semi-trailer truck by the end of 2016. Recently, the company fulfilled its promise and unveiled the Nikola One Electric hydrogen powered semi-trailer Class 8 truck.

The Nikola One Electric semi-trailer carries a 329-Kilowatt-hour lithium ion battery along with a system of six electric motors.

The automaker has not revealed much about the powertrain, but did mention it will offer a range of 800 to 1,200 miles with battery fully charged and the hydrogen tank filled.

The Nikola One Electric semi-trailer’s powertrain is believed to deliver a power output of 1,000 horsepower and 2,000 lb.-ft of torque. It would be capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in just 30 seconds.

Although Nikola has previewed the truck, but it will not enter the production until 2020, as the company is yet to decide the location of factory where the truck will be built.

Furthermore, the automaker has not revealed the pricing details of the Nikola One Electric semi-trailer, but did say leasing will cost around $5,000 to $7,000 a month. Nikola has already received about 7,000 preorders for the truck.
